Happiness is a Random Tuesday
Mark A. River

In general, our society is structured around a 5 day, 40+ hour workweek. Many people that I've spoken with consider themselves happiest when they have "time off" during the weekend or a few weeks of vacation. Unfortunately this is the only time that many people feel that they can truly do what they want to do.

We all have just as many Tuesdays in our lives as Saturdays, as many Wednesday nights as Friday evenings, and as many Thursday mornings as Sunday afternoons. I think a good test of happiness is how one feels on a random Tuesday. Are you living your Tuesdays to their full potential, following your true passions in life? Are you smiling often and laughing out loud? Or are you passing time until the weekend comes? Would we live more fully in the present moment if we didn't recognize weekends (a relatively recent invention of the civilized world) and instead lived each day equal to all the others in our life?
